<content>Tap Phong is @ 360 Spadina. Prices are good, but in some cases you do get what you pay for.

A place a lot of us chefs go to is Nella Cutlery on 148 Norfinch Drive, around Steeles and the 400.</content>

<content>Is the Nella at Steeles a store that just anyone can walk into? I have loved using their products at various restaurants that I have worked at in the past. Also, does anyone recall the name of the kitchen supply at Front and Jarvis? It is out of the price range that you all are speaking but I would love to check if they had a website....spring is coming in my world it's not spring cleaning it's spring shopping.</content>

<content>"Tongs, spoons, fancy graters" is all over the map.

For tongs and spoons, I'd go to Goodwill. No kidding. No point in going crazy here, although I think tongs are one of the most underrated kitchen tools ever. Can't have too many.

I don't know what you mean by "fancy grater" -- to grate what? Cheese? Meat? Ginger? If you're talking about a meat grater, don't go cheap would be my advice.

If what you're asking about is a general place to find kitchen tools, the places mentioned so far aren't bad. There are also some kitchen widget stores at the St. Lawrence market (not the one by the north door, but farther into the market, nearer the south end). Dinitz, by the way, is at King and Sherbourne, not Parliament. It is excellent, but carries higher end tools.

Also, check out Golda's Kitchen:

http://www.goldaskitchen.com/index.ihtml

This is also a bit higher end, but for what they sell, the pricing is very good.

At any rate, for tongs and spoons, I think you can go cheap. If you're buying cookware, knives, or appliances (blenders, food processors, etc.) I would say the reverse -- pay up, and pay only once.</content>

<content>There's a place in the St. Lawrence market right across from Whitehouse Meats (south building) that has great selection and good prices, but it's jam packed so you have to dig around - but that's half the fun!</content>
