Any advice on where to find this Mexican string cheese? Tried Kensington Market in Oct.- no luck. One grocer mentioned import issues with Mexican cheeses. Thanks very much.

For what it's worth, if you can't find the real deal, regular string cheese is in my opinion a 90% faithful substitute. I have ready access to any number of variants on the Oaxacan string cheese here in my very Mexican neighborhood (Logan Square) in Chicago. I've tried a lot of them, all good, but to my taste all are really just a slightly saltier version of mozzarella-style string cheese. But they come tied up in a ball, and that's kinda fun!
