I am thinking about going to this Ethiopian restaurant on Queen 1 block west of Dovercourt tonight. Any opinions out on this place? Any recommendations on what to eat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I haven't been in about a year, but I used to go there fairly regularly. It offers the usual Ethiopian fare, and I generally got the veggie platter with one of the meat dishes (ex. tibs, or kifta). The food is uneven, not in the sense that some thngs are better than others, but in the sense that the same item can be different from one visit to the next. On some visits, the veggie platter was excellent, full of different flavours, textures and colours, and different degrees of spiciness. On other visits, many of the vegetables were cooked with the same method and spices, thus the platter would have little variety. It is a good place to go with friends, since like other Ethiopian places, you can share a lot of food on a fairly small tab. But there is definitely better quality Ethiopian around town (although none that I know of in that vicinity).

I would recommend Lalibela, located east of Ossington on the south side of Bloor. Much better than Addis Ababa.
