"Meatloaf mix" (mixed ground meat)?

dahlia Dec 24, 2003 11:52 AM

Is there a food store in central Toronto where I can find "meatloaf mix"? It's a mix of ground meats (beef, pork and veal) that's good for making meatballs, meatloaf, etc. It's readily available in U.S. supermarkets, but I can't seem to find it in Toronto (I've looked in Loblaws, Dominion, and the butchers at St. Lawrence Market), and it's a pain to buy the various ground meats separately and mix them together when most supermarkets pre-package the portions.

This is a problem I've noticed too, since wherever I've lived around the province before, finding this mix of meats at the grocery hasn't been a problem (I usually use it for spaghetti sauce). Best bet might be to try one of the Commisso's locations in the burbs or in Hamilton (nearest to TO is Hurontario S of 401 in Mississauga), where I usually have good luck finding odd meat mixtures (like italian sausage patties).

I see this mix quite often at Loblaws and Dominion, usually around the holidays. Its near the ground beef and has all three meats in one package. If it is not out you probably could ask for it because they definately sell it.
