This is a Palestinian/Druze pastry - a mild cheese, similar to ricotta, is sandwiched between a cross between filo dough and the stringy baklava dough, topped with crushed pistachios and a little bit of a sweet, syrupy red sauce.

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I am desperately looking for some in Toronto.

  1. I had kunaif at Anatolia restaurant, a Turkish restaurant in Etobicoke mentioned in earlier posts. Their dessert fits your description- probably just a different spelling. It was a huge portion, served warm, lots of syrup. Try it out!
