I am thinking of going to these two recently opened restaurants and I would like to know if anyone has been and their thoughts.

Lobby is on Bloor just west of Avenue Road. I heard they have wonderful Kobe Burgers.

Bruyea Brothers is on College and Grace but I haven't heard a peep about this place though the menu looks yum.

Thanks,
Aaron

  1. One of the Bruyea Brothers owned a fast-food type place under First Canadian Place and the food there was quite good - mostly pastas and pizzas. One of the brother's wives was my former boss and she always "hired" him to cater our events. The food was always good.

interesting food, tiny portions, high prices at Bruyea Bros

      1. My boyfriend and I are often sceptical about "trendy" restaurants. However, Lobby has received some good reviews (e.g. Toronto.com), so we thought we'd go for a drink and get some appetizers to test the water. Unfortunately, the scantly dressed bartender couldn't even make a manhattan or a sidecar. We gave up. We took one look at the menu, and everything was mainstream crowd pleasing dishes - vegetable croquette, sweetbread with mashed potatoes - you get the idea.

For $80 per head (including wine) I would go to Crush or the new Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, where the restaurants don't have to use practically naked waitresses to distract people from the mediocre dishes.
