Next Time This Board is Out of Order For a Full Week....

....will someone please let us know! Post a query to Site Talk, send an email to, etc? We didn't notice the problem because no one complained. We're SO sorry for the inconvenience. Major apologies to all Torontonians (who we like a LOT around here).

Actually, no board on this site should be out of order for more than two hours at a time (usually even less).

  1. I was wondering what the heck was going on. This is a great site. Thanks for getting it back up and running.

Wow, that does it--Canadians really must be the most polite folks on the planet.

I have a feeling that there would have been a deluge of frenzied complaints if the DC board had been down for a hour or less.

Hey, we are not only polite, but responsible citizens. First of all, many of us had no power to access the internet (I was without for 28 hours), and when the power came back on, I (and I assume others as well) still limited computer time to the bare necessities. Of course here I am again before the power has been totally stabilized, I definitely needed a Chowhound fix! An interesting thread could be "what interesting combinations of meals did you prepare when the lights went out?" Thank goodness for BBQ's. At one point I had marinated flank steak, corn-on-the-cob, baby bok choy and fresh kale sharing space on the grill.
It would also be interesting to hear stories of which restaurants went the extra mile to serve meals and help the community.

We're just going to ask (as we did on the Manhattan board, where similar threads cropped up) that you bring general "blackout food" threads to the General Topics board (there's a thread there already if you want to pile on) and use this board only for dicussions of how specific food purveyors in Toronto handled the situation.

Glad you all made it through OK!
