My Big Fat Greek Baptism (looking for funky restaurant for reception)

HELP.... I'm looking for a restaurant or banquet hall (as a last resort) in Scarborough. I'm hosting a reception after my child's christening in October (approx 60-70 people). I prefer not to do the traditional "Greek" thing and go to a banquet-hall-a-rama type place but instead would prefer a funky restaurant where we could bring a DJ and have some dancing as well. The church where the christening is taking place is near Warden and the 401 so anything close by would be ideal. Thanks ... any ideas would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

    Okay I have two suggestions.
    1. Ellas Restaurant on Pape right across from Pape subway station. Its not in Scarborough but not too far from it. Its a greek restaurant but they have a big banquet hall upstairs that would hold the number you're looking for. Plus, the owners let you look in their kitchen. I've had friends who have had their soroity/fraternity parties there and they said they had a good time.

    2. Embers Banquet Hall on Warden near Egliton/Lawrence I believe. My cousin had her wedding there and there's a big dance floor in the middle of the room. Plenty of room to sit, eat, dance, go to the bar and room for the dj too!

    Good luck!

How about The Arkadia House on Eglinton and Birchmount ? The food is great, prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere (i.e. decor) is classy. There is an upper section that can easily hold 80 people that is perfect for a segregated section. As for dancing, however, I'm not so sure....

        Kali tihi, nevertheless.

As a last resort, try Spirale banquet hall on Don Mills Rd. just north of Eglinton Ave. It's sandwiched between a car dealership and a small restaurant building housing Swiss Chalet, Jade Village and Memories of Japan...it's worth a shot.

Buffet King is right at Warden and 401, but I'm not sure if you could fit in a DJ there....mind you, it is attached to a hotel. Perhaps, you could set something up so that your reception was in one of the halls in the hotel and it could be "catered" by Buffet King.
