I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good inexpensive Japanese or Indian Sushi buffets in the Scarbrough, Markham or Richmondhill area?

  1. For indian lunch buffet, try either Moti Mahal (7850 Woodbine, 905-9439400) or The Host (160 East Beaver Creek Rd, 905-7097070). I particularly like the lamb curry at Moti Mahal. The quality of food at the Host in Richmond Hill cant be compared with the one in downtown but with the price, it is acceptable. For variety, there are about five to six hot dishes plus dessert. It is about $10 for both of them but call them to confirm as I havent been there for a year.

For Japanese buffet, most of them are dinner buffet and are around $18-20. THere is no buffet table, you order from the menu. Not sure if that's what you are looking for.

It isn't located in the area you want but if you don't mind driving I personally enjoy Sakura Japanese buffet located 1300 Don Mills Road in North York (Tel: 416-386-1655). This all you can eat buffet features traditional Japanese items including tempura and vegetables, Japanese Noodles, and of course all kinds of sushi, as well as a sashimi, and desert and salad bar. If the buffet doesn't interest you, Sakura has a traditional menu offering different kinds of sushi and sashimi combinations, dumplings and soups, and full dinners combinations.

I recommend syogun on Woodbine just south of Hwy 7. It all you can eat for roughly $20 (weekend dinner, cheaper for lunch, I would think) and has tremendously great menu to choose from. Sushi, sashimi, maki, handrolls, appetizers, noodles, dons... and the price includes drinks (pop) and deserts!! I think, it run by chinese but food is fresh.
