I've been a couple of times, and only eaten there once - the music is awesome, the food is mediocre..

re: Truffles
I thought I would give this place a try Friday evening.
I will post a full review however it was NOT good. They did have a decent cocktail menu though.
The band was OK however the system was cranked up too loud and the music was somewhat distorted. You are definitely going there for the music and drink, not the food in my opinion.
Actually I tried a place just nearby there that was actually quite nice earlier in the week and I will post that review as well (Le Saint Tropez) much more suited to us 30+ crowd.-
re: Poorboy
If you posted reviews of these two, how can I read them? I just had dinner at Red Tomato. The food was very so-so and I wouldn't go back. I'd thought it had gotten good reviews somewhere along the way but clearly I was mistaken. We were out for a long walk and on a whim, when we realized how hungry we were when we were in the King and Spadina area, decided to eat down there. Ribs were enticing and we were deciding between Joe Mamas and Red Tomato. Red Tomato won. The ribs were the best thing on the BBQ special plate, but as I said I wouldn't go back.

We had a great time at Joe Mama's but admittedly, it was more due to the great live band and atmosphere than the food. However, had an extremely memorable corn meal breaded calamari, which was awesome! I don't remember anything else we ate, so I can't recommend solely on food alone.
