Biryani House - Roy's Square

  • c

We had a thread about the Biryani Houses earlier, so after having tried the one on Wellesley, I was very curious to try the original Roy's Sq location (now apparently deserted by the original chef). So, tonight my wife and I picked up some take-out lamb biryani for dinner. Simply put, this was superb. We are of Indian origin and I can tell you that this is the best tasting biryani we have ever had in Canada. Actually, the best anywhere, but then again, we almost never eat biryani when we visit India! The one potential criticism is that it lacked any spicy heat, but I'm sure we could have asked for it and gotten it, if we had so desired. I can't wait to try the other items on this menu. I would strongly recommend this place. BTW, it is also very cheap: the lamb biryani was $7.48, taxes included.

  1. I go there sometimes for lunch since I work down the street. It's always been good with large portions at a reasonable price. I agree with the heat factor though. Good flavour, but it does lack some heat. I'm sure they will kick it up if asked.
