Initial Voyage

First time posting on this board, but have been reading and loving it since it's inception - finally a place to check out "where to buy stuff" - I love to cook but sometimes get stumped on where to buy unusual ingredients! I'm also enjoying the restaurant reviews and am pleased to say I know most of the ones that have been mentioned. I guess my husband's right - we do eat out too much!!

If you are looking for unusual Thai ingredients there is a Thai grocery store - Sheung Thai on Eglinton (it think around Midland) I went here the other day and found lime leaves (frozen right now) and fresh/dried galangal. Two object that have been alluding me for some time!

For Middle Eastern there are a number on Lawrence between Vic Park and Warden...

I must admit, it really is a great city - you can find almost every interesting food somewehere in the city if you look. Its really wonderful to now have a network of other foodies to work with!

galangal, kaffir lime leaves and fresh tumeric have recently become available in the southeast asian grocery stores at gerrard and broadview. and the variety of other herbs that I don't even recognize is amazing and ever-expanding!

Excellent! Kaffir lime leaves have eluded me for ages!!
