german in mississauga

  • b

A friend has his heart set on schnitzel for his birthday dinner this week, but I haven't been able to locate a German restaurant. Any recommendations in Mississauga? Proximity to Queensway and Cawthra would be brilliant. Thanks for any help!

  1. You don't have to go to a German restaurant for schnitzel; you can also find it at other Mittel European restaurants (Polish, Czech, Hungarian, etc.). I don't know of any German restaurants in the Queensway-Cawthra area, but I can think of several places on or near The Queensway in Etobicoke that will offer schnitzel: The Musket (40 Advance Rd., off Kipling between Bloor and The Queensway), a German restaurant; and Izba (648 The Queensway, east of Royal York), a Polish restaurant. I believe there are a bunch of Croatian restaurants in Mississauga and Brampton, the names of which I can't recall - they may also serve schnitzel.

i've been to the musket and vouch for it.
its german owned and operated by the bakery next door (Dimfelmeiers). great weiner schnitzel, purple cabbage, and good selection of german beers. pretty good value (approx $12 meal, $17 w/ beer). its a bit of a hole in the wall in an industrial neighbourhood - which makes for a true chow-location.

Thanks for the reminder on The Musket. Went there to-night with my wife and we had the special. A generous pork roast plate, with soup/salad, stuffing ball, sauerkraut (with caraway seeds) and gravy. Better arrive hungry as the serving is large and you'll have to put it down into low gear to finish everything. All this for sixteen bucks!
