If we find ourselves at the piers... [San Francisco]

around lunch is there any place we could consider? We'll be taking a ferry to Angel Island and current plans put us in tourist central at lunch. Advice please. Thanks.

    1. The Codmother (@ Jones St.) is the only place that's "worth it". DO NOT bother with chowder in a bowl. It's canned chowder that just ruins some not quite first rate sourdough bread. Even the seagulls don't like it.

      1. I like Scoma's but doesn't the ferry to Angel Island leave from the Ferry Market building? If so, that's not really near the piers at all and there's much better food options, including the marketplace itself.

Indeed it does, although it's a longer ride from the Ferry Building (because it stops at Pier 41 on the way). But a) the ride itself is part of the fun, and b) it's worth it for the better options at and around the Ferry Building (especially on a Saturday).

If you're taking the ferry in the morning when you can leave from the Ferry Building, that would give you a lot more interesting choices of where to eat.
