Asheville - Lukewarm Food

I've been to several restaurants were the food is served lukewarm, i.e. Biscuit Head, 12 Bones, Moe's Original Bar B Que, The Early Girl Eatery. The BBQ was okay a little cooler, but I had egg dishes at the Early Girl Eatery and Biscuit Head. It was kind of weird. Biscuit Head and 12 Bones serve their food in something that looks like a metal pie pan; consequently the food gets cool almost instantly. Is this a cultural thing? Should I ask for my food extra-hot or should I just go with it "when in Rome" style?

  1. I've had the same problem at Biscuit Head, congealed gravy, not so good! I guess we could ask them to make sure everything is hot when ordering. Seems weird to have to remind a restaurant we would like hot food. But this is when I think life is good, when gravy is my problem.

    1. I would discuss the concern with staff, rather than posting a thread on CH. I ate at 12 Bones and Bisquitt Head this summer. My hot food was served hot.

Several of the places you mention are wildly popular. It could be you experienced the result of an overwhelmed kitchen/waitstaff during peak times.

I lived in Asheville for many years and still visit frequently. Hot food served lukewarm is not the norm.
