Ad taking up screen

New ads are now taking up more than half the screen in my phone. Can this pleased be fixed? Thank you.

Hi there, some of our ads can be taller and require you to scroll down further. As long as they do not interrupt your experience with audio you haven't triggered, we consider these acceptable.

First, it isn't just a "large" ad. It's also smaller ads with lots of empty space (attaching another screen shot). So that response doesn't make sense to me.

Second, why does it not surprise me at all that Chow doesn't care that the ad takes up the entire screen of the phone, given the recent ad-heavy/favoring changes? If I can't see the thread titles or read anything without scrolling (after all the jumpiness, mind you) an entire page down, then I'll skip reading on my phone, which is too bad since I'm not on my regular computer all the time.

        1. re: LNG212

Thanks, that's a different issue that we'll investigate as the ad should fill the space in that case too.

We'll continue to work on mobile page speeds and the jumpiness issue which can be caused by the ad load.

    2. This Target ad hogs the entire screen on mobile. It jumps into view when I click on the search icon. Ironically, the ad then obscures the search box and I'm unable to use the function!

        Hi Melanie.

We'll look into the ad overlaying the search bar (we saw it happen with a different ad). If you refresh the page, it dismisses the ad and you can then use the search bar.

Same problem here with the Morningstar Farms ad on Android phone. Refreshing doesn't help and the ad covers the menu bar so I can't access the page controls.

Thanks, appreciate these examples where the ad overlays page elements. We're working on this and hope to have it fixed soon.

Same problem on iPhone. This wasn't the issue for me originally (just the size was) but now the ad is obscuring the "chow" menu and everything else up there.

              Thanks for looking into it.

            2. re: DeborahL

Refreshing hasn't worked most of the time.

          2. This ad is what prompted me to get ABP for my phone. That fixed the problem, and all future problems in about 3 minutes.

I tried to upload that screenshot on the other thread... new phone and I must've done something wrong. Anyway, me too!

This is exactly what it looks like on my phone. No way to navigate. Please fix this!

                2. Anyone else on this site who cannot Log Off? I'm about fed up.

On mobile, the only page that is not hijacked at the top of screen seems to be the homepage. The ad is placed further down so you have a chance to use the navigation tools.

                    This is really awful.

                    1. re: miss_belle

I've tried refreshing the page, but then the Target ad zooms in before I can touch the navigation drawer. Or the browser crashes. This sucks big time.

                      1. re: Melanie Wong

Yeah, tell me about it. Like I said I'm fed up. If they don't want you logging off a site I consider that a problem.

Hey guys, we're working on this as we speak. Appreciate your patience.

To log out on the mobile site, visit your profile settings by clicking the gear in the menu. Then click on the active "Newsletters" tab to see additional options.

                          1. re: patsully

And again, the mobile ads hide the navigation tools on every page except the home page. So one needs to go there to get to the profile.
