Home Cooking Dish of the Month (September 2014) Voting

We have only two contenders for the September dish of the month, now it's up to you to decide which you'd like to cook next month. Please vote between:

Please vote by clicking on the heart by dish for which you want to vote. Only one vote per person.

Feel free to discuss the dishes, every comment bumps the thread, which is a bit hard to find without the obvious stickies.

Voting will be open until August 31st at 10 pm Pacific time, 1 am September 1st Eastern time, and 5 am September 1st GMT.

What is the cut-off for voting? thanks!

        1. re: Berheenia

          Yes, in the OP:
August 31st at 10 pm Pacific time, 1 am September 1st Eastern time, and 5 am September 1st GMT.

(Always nice to have a bump anyway!)

This is my vote for BANH MI.
Love the idea of stuffed vegetables too, but most require oven time. It's been such a hot summer, I'm not ready to commit to that just yet, even if it is September!

          1. re: L.Nightshade

Quite a few stuffed veggies could be done stove top and some banh mi fillings require long cooking in the oven - just saying :)

Oh, I'm totally fine with stuffed veg too, just not my first choice for the month. The ones I'm interested in are more of the squash-ish variety, oven time in my mind. And of all the banh mi fillings I've been exploring, none require oven time, except maybe baking one's own banh mi bread, which I'd love to try at some point, but don't think it's crucial.

          1. re: L.Nightshade

You could always stuff a vegetable with banh mi fixin's.

            1. re: blue room

Or make a banh mi with a stuffed vegetable? Wait. Now I'm just getting silly.

            2. re: L.Nightshade

I like stuffed peppers on the grill. Works great! Don't have to heat up the oven.

I confess to nominating both but am going with stuffed veg as the harvest is upon us in my neck of the woods.

              2. I'm hoping potatoes (nightshade family?) will be considered as stuffable vegetables. (Not just baked potatoes with toppings, but stuffed. Not a huge difference, I know.)
Also hoping mushrooms (fungi ?) big or small I love 'em all will be considered vegetables.

Certainly! I was looking at some recipes for stuffed portobellos cooked on the grill. And potatoes? Why not, it's a vegetable!

                2. Quite a trend going here, but one never knows...
Just a bump and a reminder that voting closes tonight at 10pm Pacific time.
