La pergola Rome

  • 6

Does anyone has any experience with La pergola as of how difficult is it to book a table and how long prior to visit?

  1. It's the only restaurant in Rome that requires serious advance planning, especially for a weekend. I think they recommend 3-4 weeks, but for a weekend more is probably needed.

Thank you very much. Do you know if they require a credit card?

You mean to hold the reservation? I doubt it. That practice has not yet begun in Italy, but it is very easy to find out. Just phone them. They do require a jacket, however.

Yes about holding the reservation as they do in Paris London etc. I asked after I saw a comment on tripadvisor about how many times they asked for comfirmation via the phone etc.

Is it possible to find a table with reservation one or two days prior to the meal for il pagliaccio, oliver glowing or other restaurants to these category? I remember in Paris than most 2 or 3 star places had empty tables, in contrary to the ones in London which were always full.

These are impossible questions to answer. It is possible (Glowig, not glowing), especially during the week, but you certainly can't count on it. Nevertheless, it is easier in Rome than in Paris, New York, or London. Romans do not like to plan too far ahead.

Yes, there is a lot of confirming, even in social life where no money changes hands. It's all part of the same reluctance to commit.

I guess it's like here in Greece. No planning for any kind of restaurant more than a day or so, except maybe one restaurant, funky gourmet.

              Thank you very much
