Cheap lunches in east 30s/40s

  • 9

My office is a few blocks from Grand Central and I'm always looking for new places to try for quick lunches. Willing to eat pretty much anything (ethnic foods, spicy, etc), but try keep the meal at around $10 when doing take out or $15-20 max to sit down somewhere.

Some of the places I've been to include Mechanko Tei, Soba Totto, Xi'an Famous Foods, Szechuan Gourmet, Sticky Fingers, Spreads, Untamed, Black Shack, Wichcraft, Chicken Provence, Desi Shack, Piccolo Cafe, Sophie's Cuban Cuisine, and El Sabroso

Thank you for the links. I've seen some of those lists before but always good to check them out again. Need to visit Hide-Chan Ramen and Kati Roll Company soon. Among others. Pie Face has always intrigued me, but I've never been.

A colleague likes the savory pies at Pie Face, served with mashed potatoes, peas, and gravy.

      1. Random, but there is a dominican bodega on 2nd ave near 35th st that has changing options every day- and the best rice and beans i've ever had (vegetarian). Most of the customers are also dominican or nearby construction workers, large portions but no where to sit.

And no website of their own...

Love places like this. That's why I make the trek over to El Sabroso every so often

        2. The Hunan section of the menu at Hunan Manor has some great stuff.
