QUIET restaurant, GOOD FOOD (that's it!)

I'm looking for a quiet restaurant w/ good/great, consistent food in Manhattan. Will travel, pay whatever it take, but restaurant must be quiet. So often great meals are ruined by so much noise that you can barely have a conversation. It doesn't have to be silent, just not so loud that you have to strain to hear what those at your table are saying. I'm in midtown east, but am willing to cab it if needed.

  1. Juni was so quiet, I found it difficult to enjoy. Could work better for you.

Strongly seconded. Definitely quiet, definitely outstanding food.

Jung Sik meets the quiet requirement at least.

And the requirement of "restaurant" as well.

Second Telepan. A little too quite for me actually. LoL.

Never had a problem with the food or the noise level at either restaurant.

Chez Napoleon is especially quiet when grandma is sleeping.
