Walking in downtown Petaluma last week, I noticed the build-out going on for Native Kitchen.

P-towners, please keep us posted on the progress.

  1. Tried their offering at Taste of Petaluma and I was really impressed. Kale & pumpkin seed salad w quinoa & chickpea chili with a bit of really good cornbread.

    Looking forward to the restaurant.

    1. Sort of curious. I live in Tokyo and the only kombucha we have here is just a straight tea made from dried kombu. None of it is fermented and "living". I suppose this Kombucha in this place is a U.S. creation?

The name may be made up in the US, but the beverage is believed to have Chinese origins.

          Melanie,
While Google is my friend, you turned out to be first by passing on that useful link which clears everything up. I have heard of Kocha Kinoko which is more similar to what goes by Kombucha in the U.S. In any case, the plain Japanese kelp tea (kombucha) is brisk and refreshing and quick an easy to make. Thanks again for the info.
