Per Diem Restaurant (Financial District, San Francisco)

Wondering if anyone has been to Per Diem in the last month or so? Not a place that has been on my radar, but Chef Matthew Bousquet is in the kitchen now.

  1. I've been there in the past and had some nice cocktails, but haven't been recently. This is a good reason to check it out and report back. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks, guys. As far as I can tell, there's been no press release about Chef Bousquet coming on board. Here's a fun photo from PD's FB page showing his ideas for changing the menu,

For those who do not recognize his name, he and his wife operated Mirepoix, a Michelin one-star in Sonoma County. After Mirepoix and their other places in Windsor closed, he was exec chef at Bistro Jeanty. Then Barrel House Tavern in Sausalito, and now at Per Diem.

    2. I had lunch there earlier this year (but not within the past month - it was good but not spectacular. As a point of comparison, I've eaten at a few other places in the area (near my office) and would prefer either Trou Normand or Red Dog (Lauren Kiino's place) to Per Diem.

Per Diem's not a place that I've paid any attention to, but I'm curious what this change in the kitchen might yield.

No one has talked about Red Dog yet here, as far as I can see. When you have a chance, could you please start a new topic and tell us about what you like there?

oh-oh, saw the crispy pig's trotter burger on the menu, and decent beer on tap at Red Dog -- might have to finagle the dining out and calorie splurge budgets.
