Alabama Coast - Oysters

  • 7

Where can one feast on raw oysters (dozens) if one is not part of the 1% - no white tablecloths needed - even 'stand-up' OK. Prices?

According to their website, $20 a dozen, $10 during happy hour.

yikes - for the sad times

          any stand-up oyster bars - Sloppy Joe-style?

Go to Sea 'n Suds in Gulf Shores - best raw oysters & fried oyster po-boys. Actually, everything there is good and IMO, the best gumbo on the island.

Wintzell's is ok, but it is now a chain. The original one in Mobile is fine, but like I said - it's a chain.

Sea 'n Suds has been in GS for over 40 yr. and still stands right on the beach like no other restaurant or condo in this small, quaint town.

We'd heard so many great things about Wintzell's that Mrs. Sippi insisted we visit the one in Huntsville. It was rather mediocre.

                Yeah, I agree.

Sea 'n Suds is about as local and fresh as you can get.
