Lunch with the girls

I will be back in town for the weekend and will be having lunch with about 8 friends next Saturday. I am looking for well prepared but not fancy lunch food ( as opposed to brunch) with entrees under 25 bucks.
Neighborhood is up for grabs I originally thought eately wold be fun as I want to check it out but the group is too big now. Most will be coming in via penny station so not that immediate area but that is a starting point. We want to chat and have some wine and fell comfortable to linger . 'Enoteca would have been my first choice back in the day but alas it is no more. Bonus points if we get to be near a shake shack for a concrete.
Thanks in advance

  1. With a group that large you will need reservations to avoid epic waits... Almost everywhere serves brunch but some have more savory options than others.

Maialino takes res and has a great selection of lunchy items. Close to mad sq park shake shack where you will likely wait in line an hour (maybe more)...

Co takes res and is great for groups, they also have a good wine list and won't rush you

Artisinal also takes res and has a great wine list, very large brunchy and lunchy menu

ilili is another option, they take res and will let you linger, in addition to a la carte they have a drink/main/side pre-fixe brunch for $28

    1. Take a look at Avra on East 48th St. Food is Mediterranean/Greek with an emphasis on seafood but they have great shared plates and salads as well. Along with the regular lunch menu they have a $30 prix fixe. Really nice atmosphere with outside seating as well.

      1. Don Antonio's for lunch (50th/8th).

Shake Shack about 5 minutes south on 8th (44th/8th) for the concrete.

        1. Stella 34 at Macy's. No joke. It's quite good. Shake Shack is 10 blocks away.

Sorry but on a weekend that place is a madhouse- I doubt they would be amused by friends lingering.... But perfect for a weeknight dinner or drinks

True, to a point. If they are lingering and drinking and steadily increasing the tab though, I think the restaurant will be fine with it. Friends and I did just that on a busy Friday afternoon and all was good. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Of course, we left a more than appropriate tip.

At first I thought, "Gee, that's awfully petty of @scoopG" but then I went to @adi's profile and clicked on about half of her posts. Not only has she never reported back about any suggestions (and she's asked for a lot), but she never says thank you or acknowledges anyone (at least in the posts I read through). Not that one has to do either of these things, but you would think with all the help these boards had given her that she would report back. Hmmmmm...
