Indian Grocery/Places to buy Ghee in the Phila area

Hi everyone-I know that Trader Joe's sells Ghee however it's in very small bottles. I'm assuming Whole Foods sells it at an inflated price. Any suggestions for where to get a larger container? I have not yet been to any Indian grocery stores yet. The closest ones to me I believe are in West Phila, King of Prussia, maybe one in Upper darby as well.

Maybe Ghee isn't sold in bigger containers? Any help would be appreciated.

  1. I make my ghee at home (It's really super easy), so I have not been in the market for the bottled product in a while. I will recommend International Foods at 42 & Walnut for Indian grocery items. If anyone in Philadelphia would have bigger jars, they should.

    1. Where are you located? There are I think 3 Indian grocers/cash-and-carries in Bensalem, Bucks County.

And there are Indian groceries on 309 in Montgomeryville as well as on Main street in Lansdale. And I believe there is one in Exton too.

      2. there are two good indian grocery stores in west philly that i know about: Rice N Spice ( and International Food and Spices ( they both would sell ghee. Rice N Spice has the advantage of also having a homestyle indian restaurant in the back.

if you're ever in south philly, the asian market at 6th and washington also sells ghee..

        hope that helps!
