Fun Friday Happy Hour Spots in South Bay / El Segundo?!

  • 9

Hey hey! I'm a Westside newbie and we have the best perk on Friday's ~ Out at 1pm!!

Any reccos for an early happy hour spot and/or a good spot to visit with 8+ coworkers?

NOT into "Rock N Brew" or places like that... :)

  1. Depends how depraved you want to get, but there's a bunch of boozers at Hermosa Beach Pier for some dirty drinking, or Shellback in Manhattan Beach.

    1. Purple Orchid in El Segundo for great tiki style drinks.

Tony's on the Pier also for tiki stuff.

      Hudson House on PCH.

          Hudson House YES.

From LA Weekly: In this industrial-chic gastropub, it’s Venice Beach–comes-to-Redondo due to the talents of Brooke Williamson and Nick Robertson, the award-winning chef-owners of Venice hot spot Beechwood. Whet your whistle within walking distance of the pier where the price is definitely right weekdays 5-7 p.m., with $2 Hudson Ales, $4 mango margaritas and Cava cocktails, which are fruity fusions made with Spanish sparkling wine; as well as $5 glasses of select wines such as Sand Point Chardonnay and Koala Ranch Shiraz. Also easy on the wallet are highly creative appetizers: a hefty $2 pail of shoestring or sweet-potato fries (regularly $4); two $2 fluffy bacon-chive biscuits with spicy honey butter (regularly $5), and $3 beer-battered cauliflower fritters (regularly $6). 514 N. Pacific Coast Hwy., Redondo Beach. (310) 798-9183, hudsonhousebar.com.

I was there with a big group few months ago, that's a good shout. Redondo Beach Pier is such a waste of prime oceanfront space, I forget about the good places around there.

the last time i was at purple orchid, ALL of their mixes were pasteurized and came out of the big plastic jugs with lots of sugar.

the horseradish in the bloody mary was the shelf stable stuff.
the bloody marys served on airplanes are better.

imho, whatever you do, order your booze straight at purple orchid.
it is a fun place if you obey this rule.
every one of their mixed drinks was yuck.
every one of their plain whisky drinks was good.
