Lunch spot with great food and beer for group of 7-9 [San Francisco]

Looking for just that. Lunch spot for a group of 7-9 people in the city with great food and beer for a Thursday. Open to any type of food.

  1. Mikkeller Bar or Monk's Kettle.

The beer selection at Southern Pacific is lame.

Southern Pacific isn't the best food or beer wise, but it does have the benefit of plenty of space. So much space for SF, that your group can be flaky, people can join later walk in and out etc. which is really rare.

    2. - Mikkeller Bar

      - Garaje in SOMA (cash only and it gets busy, so either get there at 11:30 or get there at 1)

      - Rosamunde Sausage Grill on Mission St. (Cash only)

      1. Wexler's
        Wayfare Tavern
(both on Sacramento between Montgomery and Sansome)

the OP didn't say whether food or beer selection was more important

I took "great food and beer" to mean a place that's great for both.

If the request is for great food where you can get a good beer, there are a LOT of choices.

        1. If beer's not a major focus, maybe you could narrow things down by neighborhood, price range, or preferred cuisine.

          1. Thank you for all the suggestions. I love Mikkeller Bar but would prefer to steer clear of more beer centric bars to appease the ladies, who tire of their husbands dragging them to craft beer bars all the time. The beer list at Wayfare is decent. Wexler's is not up to what we are looking for.

Narrowing it to neighborhoods: something in Mission, Haight, or Union Square would be good so we can do some bar hopping and/or shopping afterwards.

Cuisine: I would prefer non-sandwich and non-sausage offerings. Seafood, Asian, small shareable plates...

Small shareable plates + good beer + Mission = Monk's Kettle

They have a small but quality wine list for people who don't care for beer. The beer list skews Belgian. You may want to see if they'll take a reservation given the size of your party.

Ok. Glad you guys kept recommending Monk's Kettle. Not your average pub menu. Will make the ladies at least check out the menu.

Not your average wine list, either. I ate well there last year.

St. Vincent has a very interesting beer menu, and fits you more clearly explained requirements well. The food is excellent, the wine selection eclectic and varied... and they have pickled eggs that you must try with your beer(s).

Unfortunately they're only open for dinner.

Yep. That seems to be the problem. I have found a plethora of dinner only places that would fit the bill (TBD, Bar Crudo, St Vincent, etc....).

The two places I was going to recommend are dinner only.
