Tried to start a "discussion" with photos and it wouldn't post

That pretty much says it. I started a "discussion," wrote my title, added my narrative and then added two pix. But when I tried to "post," nothing happened. Tried a second time and the same things. Did I or the site screw up?

  1. oh c - everyone blocked your posts long ago...

your post on Banquet Inn in Sf (the one in question?) did show up, photos and all, eventually.

and BTW congrats on the new grandchild.

Hill, you're so evil :) ACtually this was about "gourmet ice" for cocktails, Mr. Smartypants. Wait, are you a mister? And thanks for the congrats. She's precious (oh course).

      1. re: c oliver

        well of COURSE she is.

oh gender can be such a bourgeois and post-structural construct. what would you like me to be? (I hope you're not already projecting these self-serving expectations on a newborn - hint: forget pinks or blues and get yellows. or grey)

gourmet ice, did you see the one about making ice with 'smoked water' the other day? still can't figure out if it was a hoax, but I'm game.

        1. re: hill food

I'm INSANELY non-gender specific with clothes and all sorts of other things.

Still hoping to hear from TPTB about my problem with posting that.

We've been awfully busy this week so I'm behind on answering you.

And, obviously, nothing with a blue heart on it ;) Congrats and the grandkid!

    2. Hi c oliver.

Looks like we had some server issues overnight last night, maybe that was the culprit. Were you able to post your discussion/photos later or are you still having an issue?

Also, what's the file size on your photos? If they're over 10mb (individually, not combined) that could be hanging things up.

        Hi D,

I should have mentioned that when I tried to post pix I got the format like I was doing a photo story. I haven't posted pix in a while. Is that how it is now? I'll try again and report back. Thanks.

        1. I just had the same thing happen with a long photo story about my restored refrigerator! The Post button was grey (??), and when I clicked it a couple times, nothing happened. Finally I selected the 'post as numbered list' box, clicked Post again ... and it evaporated into thin air. Whassup???

Guess I'll check back later and see if my thread has reappeared from the ether ... but if you have any tips, I'm all ears.

Look at a long, skinny rectangle that will show what % of the photo has uploaded...or something like that. When I tried again, I had already copied my text so I only had to reattach the photos.

            1. re: foiegras

Hi foiegras. The Post button remains grayed out until all photos have completed uploading, then it returns to blue and you can submit your post. There should be a progress bar (what c oliver mentioned) that appears while your photos are uploading--sometimes it takes a minute for the bar to appear, so it might look briefly like there's nothing happening on the page. We're working on improving that.

              1. re: DeborahL

OK, thanks, improving it would be great. I couldn't understand what was happening at all, and I do think the whole thing shouldn't have gone poof ...
