Chicago to Saginaw and Back Recs needed

Doing the back roads of Michigan on this trip, looking for recs for diners and dives. Going to hit a few coney places and Tony's I-75 but looking for other suggestions. The longer the places have been around, the better. Thanks!

  1. You're really stopping at Tony's???

1.'re going as far as Saginaw, but no further? No further *at all*? The Turkey Roost in Kawkawlin is only another 20 minutes away, and I absolutely love that place. And they've been around a *long* time, for good reason!

I suggest you go *just* a little further north to Turkey Roost. Really.

Heartily second that. Wednesday is pot pie day I believe.

According to their website (, you are correct!

I've never had anything but the Turkey Plate, and breakfast (also very good, by the way!). So you're saying the pot pie is memorable as well, eh?

Perhaps if I'm ever there on a Wednesday...
