East of Cleveland

I am going to a conference in Geneva on the Lake (Ohio) in January (a lousy time to be on the lake). I am looking for good food suggestions anywhere between there and Cleveland. Any suggestions are great...BTW I am pretty adventurous. Thanks.

  1. Well, you're not gonna find much "adventurous" cuisine until you get toward Cleveland proper -- lots of past threads on that.

    Out in wine country, Ferrante has decent food, though sadly you won't be able to take advantage of their beautiful patio in January. http://www.ferrantewinery.com/

    Hil-Mak in Ashtabula doesn't look like much, but they bring in a surprising array of fresh seafood with lots of daily specials and great prices. http://www.hilmaks.com/

    1. I agree with barefootgirl's suggestions (especially Hil Mak's) and would add the following-

      At least one day when you are there stop and get Madsen Donuts. It's on the strip, so if you are staying at the conference center it's just down the street. (I think they are open year round, but I'm not positive)

      Alessandro's. An Italian place also not too far from the conference center. It's been forever since I've been there, but I remember it being great. It looks like they expanded their tiny dining room last year.See this local newspaper article: http://bit.ly/1uORAxl
