Alternatives to MB (dark) russet potato chips

We're heading down the Cape this weekend and normally we stuff the trunk full of Market Basket's russet potato kettle cooked potato chips. With the MB turmoil, I assume these will be hard to get, and I don't relish the thought of having to make a separate trip to a barren store just to get chips.

What are some good alternatives in this style (medium to dark fry job, lots of potato flavor, crunchy and toothsome)? It looks like Utz has one...any favorites?

  1. I have had the Utz. Always buy them when I see them. really like them, great flavor and saltiness. I thought Cape Cod had some too at one point.

Cape Cod's are long gone--the MBs were my sub for them.

Supposedly the reason was that they had trouble with potato sugar levels varying too much, making consistent cooking challenging. I guess they gave up.

      1. The Utz "extra dark" one is damn dark... to the point it really just tasted like dirt to me. Burnt potato dirt.
