Are commerical fridges and freezer okay for a residence?

Considering buying commercial fridge and freezer (separate units, compressors) but have read reviews about loud decibels and/or higher energy consumption. Brands we are considering are ColdTech, True, Supera, Artic Air from commercial vendor.

Can anyone comment? RetiredChef? Others?

  1. Have friends in restaurant biz who have a ginormous fridge and freezer in their kitchen (separate units) - louder than some of the silent units but not especially loud fro refrigerators.

Msg for Ferret: What brand did they have? I am considering a freezer (27-29 inches wide) ; and fridge (29-36 inches wide) so not super big. Both about 80 inches tall.

I believe the brand is Continental.

    2. Yes they are fine for home. Be aware they are louder and heavier than most Domestic Models

Chefj - can you recommend a brand(s) that are better than others? It's going in an contemporary home with polished concrete floors so weight isn't an issue.

I have not bought any in many Years and Build Quality can change.
The True and Randell units that we have have functioned very well for the last 13 years.

      2. may have to wire up to 220v - not a huge issue, but is a consideration.
