Lacanche vs. Bluestar, also warming cupboards?

  • 0

Owners would you share your pros and cons of each? I cook dinner for the family every night and bake some. I am not trained or particularly skilled at cooking but would love any equipment that makes getting dinner on the table easier.

For me the Lacanche has beauty and solid cooking ability. Its capabilities would be a big upgrade over my half working GE Profile cooktop (never again! We hates it) and GE Monogram double ovens (still working well.) We are already remodeling but Lacanche is still a splurge. I do love the look and it seems built to REALLY last, like it's the last range you'll ever get.

The Bluestar Platinum I am eyeing is a roaring cooking beast with every function and feature a serious cook might need. I am concerned that I would be paying for functionality that I would never use, not being trained or sophisticated cook. I notice a number of angry posts about defective BS units which makes me think they have a quality control issue? (Easy to imagine with gadgety American-made stuff based on the American car I just traded in.) Also BS customer support seems spotty. I get the idea that the BS not made to last decades but to be replaced in 10-15 years. Don't ask me why, that's just the impression I get.

So what are your experiences?

Also, many Lacanches have warming cupboards. I have never had one. How useful are they? The people who have them seem to swear by them.
