Neufield Farms Fresh Goji Berries at Healdsburg Farmers Market

  • 5

This morning's find at the Saturday Healdsburg Farmers Market --- fresh goji berries. They're grown by Neufield Farms in Tulare County. The farm normally dries them for sale but had a big harvest this week and brought them fresh to market. They said they'll have them off and on this summer if the bushes continue to produce.

  1. Amazing!! How were they? I so want to go and get some, but it's a big 2-hour gamble if it's off and on :(

Since this farm is in Tulare, it might sell at some other markets closer than Healdsburg. Here's the contact info to find out,

From what I've read they taste kind of bad.

I wouldn't say that. They are sweet and have a tannic bite in the finish. I didn't trust the sign when I spotted them and asked to taste a sample. I'm familiar with the flavor of dried ones, and these tasted like fresh of the same.

I've put them in salad, and I think they'd be pretty added as garnish to a cocktail. They are used in Chinese traditional medicine so best not to eat too many at once.
