East of Main Cafe - closed

Was at my dentist on Thursday when I noticed across the street that they're closed. Been wanting to check them out. Hope it's not too late ....

  1. We walked by yesterday and I thought it looked kinda shuttered too, though it was during the day so I wasn't sure. The Parker really looks like it is closed when they lower all the blinds during the day too and has no signage for hours to correct that impression. Seems like an easy fix...

Just as a note the name of The Parker restaurant and its operating hours are plastered on the window beside the front door. The restaurant isn't open during the day in any case so the blinds help indicate the fact that we're not open yet

Good to know. When I stopped to look yesterday, I couldn't find any hours but there was a lot of glare :-).

Walked by today. Sign on door says "..... not re-opening".

They will be focusing on supporting Project Limelight Society .....

    2. Don't worry. In a couple of weeks the sign will proclaim 'West of East Main Cafe' opening soon (as soon as the in-laws come through with what was going to be their retirement fund).
I'll never understand why a constant stream of 'hipsters' can't get it through their pretty heads that pretty much 99.999% of them have zero clue how to make actual bankable money in the restaurant business.
Borrowing from Maggie Thatcher: "Owning a restaurant is great sport until you run out of other peoples money'.

It's not just hipsters that have very little clue as to how to make it in the restaurant business. The owners of East of Main were film industry and non-profit veterans.

I am acquainted with the two women who own East of Main and the project limelight organizations, and they are certainly not hipsters. Unfortunately for a number of reasons the restaurant did not work out financially.

Ya, hipsters should never open restaurants, they have no clue what they are doing.

By the way have you checked out - Bestie, Matchstick, Pizza Farina, The Tiki Bar, Burdock and Co, The Pie Shoppe, Cartem's, Meat and Bread?

            1. re: koshfoodie

A hot dog stand open an hour and a half a day.
              A coffee shop.
              A pizza joint.
              Isn't the Tiki Bar closed?
              A pie shop.
              A doughnut shop.
              A sandwich shop.
              Notice anything?
              'Restaurants'? Not really.
