Mastic recs

  • 7

Hi, I'll be spending a bunch of time in/around Mastic in August. Much obliged for any recs in terms of restaurants and food shopping.

I know about Mastic Seafood (anywhere better I should go?) and the farmstands twds Moriches. Beyond that all I've got is the King Cullen.

Restaurants in the area seem unremarkable but I would love for someone to tell me otherwise.

Many thanks.

    1. Yes Jimmy's Diner, like going back in time. Mastic Seafood can't be beat, I drive a half hour each way to get there even though I live more on the East End... and Franks Italian Bakery up on Montauk Hwy, right by them, is as good as the city. Not to mention the ice cream place http://www.icecreamcottage.com/.

In Center Moriches there is a great Italian restaurant, La Volpe. Keep going a little east and the food gets better and better.

Yes. But, 10 minutes west and there's Spicys BBQ for fried chicken ;-)

Or keep going to Patchogue if you want to go for a ride!

Coll, what exactly at Frank's is as good as in the city? Thanks.

Sorry, the Italian bread and pastries is what I get. That is their claim to fame, although they make other basic items too.

        3. Grab some coffee at Tend Coffee:

They're a roaster, too. And maybe they'll have some of their handmade chocolates, too.

For food shopping I'd go to the farmers' markets in Westhampton Beach and Riverhead.
