Two dinners in Portsmouth - please help

  • 7

We will be coming to Portsmouth in a few weeks and would like recommendations for two good dinners.
We are mostly interested in seafood. We are coming from Philadelphia, and get plenty of good Italian, French, Asian, etc. - but not much seafood. It can be upscale or downscale, we like it all!
Thanks in advance.

  1. I recommend Rye Harbor Lobster pound. Petey's is OK, but not great. I really am wishing we'd gone to Rye Lobster Pound (it's not that far a drive from Portsmouth) this summer instead. :)

    1. Not your spot for pure, undadorned fresh seafood, but Black Trumpet might be a good choice for the "other" night. Creative and well-executed small dishes & entrees. Terrific cocktails.

      1. Do put Jumpin Jay's Fish Cafe on your list. Very fresh fish and a really nice bar to sit and sip and share some apps.

        1. Thank you for the suggestions. Looking forward to Portsmouth!

          1. +1 for Jumpin' Jae's and -1 one for the Black Trumpet.

            1. And if you're looking for raw bar options you cannot beat Surf.

              1. My SO and I love Rí Rá! It's an Irish pub with the most amazing architecture. They also had a live Irish band when we went. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It is definitely worth a stop!
