Philadelphia Hounds coming to San Diego for a week in October

  • 3

I have been reading many great recommendations from the local Hounds. But being geographically challenged, I am wondering if these restaurants are anywhere near the Marriott Marquis & Marina. We are coming out for business, but extending the stay to enjoy the area. It has been quite a few years since our last visit to the area. I remember having the best fish taco. Just can't remember where. We have amazing dining options in the City of Brotherly Love and our focus will be fish and seafood and possibly Mexican. Appreciate your thoughts.

  1. Marriott Marquis & Marina is downtown adjacent to the Gaslamp district, right next to the SD Convention Center and Petco Park. It would be helpful if you posted which restaurants you were interested in going to.

    1. If you will have a car, get on the 5 south you'll find an exit where the Toys R Us is located on Industrial Ave. The Marisco's el Pescador fish taco truck will be located in the parking lot. Excellent Baja style fish tacos, seafood tostada's and other styles of seafood tacos. If you're in the mood for lamb barbacoa, Aqui es Texcoco in Chula Vista, just google the name to find it. Great Pho in a fun atmosphere at OB Noodle House in Ocean Beach.

      1. The following restaurants are an easy walk from your hotel:

        Lion's Share
        Puesto
        Pizzeria Mozza
        Fish Market
        Bice
        Eddis V's

A bit further, but still walkable:

        Cowboy Star
        Cafe Chloe
        Blind Burro

These represent all price ranges, each is at least competent and most I would say are very good. When I'm visiting a city I like to walk to dine. It's cheaper than cabbing or renting a car, no alcohol issues, and a nice walk after a meal is a good thing.
