Spark Studio City closing July 20 @ 10pm

Spark has been a local fixture in the Studio City dining scene for about 15 years, yet tomorrow night will be its last night in business.
Rumor has it being "re-conceptualized" and should re-open as something new in about 3-4 months, meaning the place will be completely gutted.

  1. Interesting. Never had a chance to go even though it's right near me. Eater reported that Eggplant is switching as well.

Yes, Egg Plant has already closed, and in its place will come an operation from the owners of Scratch Bar on La Cienega in Beverly HIlls

    2. It was a nice space. Good for parties.

      1. Sorry to hear this. I have been going there for years. Enjoyed their roast chicken and burgers. Never had a bad meal, and usually got on street parking. Another seemingly popular local place bites the dust. Too bad

        1. Probably to be replaced by yet another gastro pub-y concept.

I've no information on this, just seems to be the concept du jour on the SC/SO Ventura corridor.

I would agree with you in that regard, but if Bill Chait is still involved with this operation in any way, it will be a better one than most of what has opened in the past 4-5 years. And it may also NOT be a gastropub - maybe something unique to the street that will actually be welcome.
            Don't need any more gas'!
