Sunday Brunch, downtown Austin, please!

I am looking for a Sunday Brunch place in downtown Austin around 11th street. Preferably buffet. Any ideas?

  1. Not right downtown but my personal favorite Sunday Brunch is at Fonda San Miguel:

Also very fond of Trio at the Four Seasons:

And Austin 360 has a pretty comprehensive list:

Trio is very expensive. People like the Moonshine's brunch although not in your area.

      1. re: Rptrane

Trio is fairly costly at $54 per person, but that does include champagne and mimosas, and I think the quality is excellent. It's not an "every Sunday thing" for us, but it's where we go for special occasions.

And, the OP didn't say anything about the reason for going, or price.

So I definitely thought it was worth a mention.

I guess I'm not a huge eater and the price tag doesn't make sense to me when I can get excellent a la carte items for less $

I'll bet that's exactly why there are millions and millions of restaurants around the world offering a variety of choices. Some of us just absolutely love a luxurious high-end upscale Sunday Brunch presented with attentive service in an elegant setting.

And I happily happen to be one.

But far be it from me to criticize your personal choice.

            1. re: Jaymes

i can't argue with the service or the setting, its the food quality that I don't think lives up to the price. again, if I were a big eater it would be worthwhile but gorging myself on solid yet unspectacular food at that price point doesn't make sense for me. i'm glad it works for you!

              1. re: Jaymes

Thats why here in "mureca" wez got a whole bunch of choises. hell I hear tell at TGIF you can sit for 14 hours and eat mozzerella sticks all you want for 10 bucks.

                1. re: girloftheworld

Hi y'all. I have the same problem as chrisdds98. It isn't a choice for me, but I just can't eat too much at once. I tend to eat here and there all day and have smaller meals. I now have a psychosomatic response when I enter a buffet - I get full before I eat because I know I won't get the money's worth (unless it is all you can drink mimosas, then I can put a dent in it).

It happened last time at Fonda San Miguel. You only get two mimosas so I had to watergate a bunch of lamb rib chops to eat later.

But merrillsue wants a brunch or buffet, so she will get one (unless she is actually a Boy Named Sue). merrillsue - price point and method of transportation would be helpful to us.

EDIT - I did the rookie move and didn't look at dates or the responses below (thought I was at the bottom). Please report me to the CH cops, or at least roll your eyes! But if GOTW is of age and needs a date.......

                  1. re: rudeboy

GOTW is only "of age" in a few religious cults scattered throughout the the country..

      2. stubb's gospel brunch isn't far from 11th and 35.

but the food is kind of dull...
          My favourites are

          Yellow Jacket Social Club
          Fonda San Miguel
          Annies Cafe
          La Condesa

I dont pay or drive so all of those suggestions are made purely on food and fun factor.

          1. re: girloftheworld

You don't pay...ever? How do I get a gig like this?

              1. re: slowcoooked

yep. they do .that whole room and and keeping thing. .I do the growing up things like mowing the lawn, helping around the house, not being a total disappointment and waste of flesh..

                1. re: girloftheworld

Oh! Didn't realize you were a minor. Lucky you! :)

        2. I haven't been in a while but enjoyed Lambert's brunch. just be sure to stay away from the "bbq"

          1. Jaymes has mentioned the buffet options.

I'll add the yet to be mentioned Mulberry and Trace at the W Austin.

neither were some of my other favorites I mentioned above...just in case. "preference" softens in favour of location and adventure
