French Blogger Fined for Scathing Restaurant Review
- ninrn Jul 17, 2014 02:03 PM
A French court ruled that a blogger who posted a highly critical review of a restaurant has to pay damages to the restaurant owner. Apparently the review, titled "the place to avoid in Cap-Ferret" along with the restaurant's name, consistently came up fourth or so in Internet searches, and the judge agreed with the restaurant owner that it has had an undue and unfair negative impact on the business.
What do you think?
We have a very close personal friend from France. The French take their food very seriously and can be insulting about it. I think I finally convinced him, after several extended visits, that I take my food very seriously too.
Imagine if Jon Favreau had sued the reviewer instead of doing what he did in the movie "Chef."
This is ridiculous. I wonder what more there is behind the story.
Odd. Before I posted I searched under "blogger fined" and "French blogger" and nothing came up in either case, even though those very words are in the title of the other post. Sorry for the redundancy. Feel free to flag.
Not fussed...just passing along that the other conversation had been started earlier today.
