Restaurant after the Sox game

Will be in Boston attending a Red Sox game on a Monday evening. Expect to be out of Fenway by 10:30-11:00.
Where can we dine that late in Boston. I see that ICOB is open until 1:00am. any others?

  1. Audobon on Beacon St., Citizen on Boylston, Church on Kilmarnock along with the more casual places on Peterborough (Gyro City, El Pelon, etc). There are others further away, which may make more sense.

the Peterborough places close at 11PM, so might not fit the OP's needs.

I think ICOB serves a limited menu after 11PM. Its fine if you want oysters and dessert, but I think the full entrees are unavailable.

the Yard House will be open. But mobbed.

You really think the Yard House will be mobbed at 11:00pm on a Monday night even after a game? It won't be empty for sure but it is a huge space and I cannot imagine you cannot get seated at 11pm on a Monday especially given the crowds at Fenway this season. In the 5 or 6 games I have been to during the week this season, the crowd has thinned out quite a bit by the last couple of innings.

you may be right...But I almost always walk past there after a game and there always seems to be a line out front waiting to get in. I go to maybe a dozen games a season, but not too many on Mondays.

so perhaps its just a small postgame crush to get in, and it takes a few minutes to absorb the crowds. It IS a big space.

I find the food decent, if unremarkable but the beer list is fun.

Eastern Standard or Citizens are probably much better choices anyways. And Citizen doesn't seem to be as crowded as ESK.

if you leave early you can definitely get in to Yard House. I work at the Park some nights and leave in the 5th-7th inning and YH is vacant then.

yeah, but after spending $100+ on tickets, who wants to leave early?? :) :) (I certainly understand if you work there!)

I was gonna say "the way they've been playing . . . " but they've been playing pretty well lately. No matter what Shaugnessy says!

    2. You may have to wade through post-game crowds at some of these, but I like them all for food and drinks: Audubon Boston, The Citizen Public House, Tasty Burger, Eastern Standard, The Hawthorne.

Many more suggestions if you're looking beyond the Fenway / Kenmore neighborhood.

Thank you for the suggestions. I don't live in the city so not sure when restaurants stop serving dinner.
Looks like 11 is not out of the question.

All the places I cite serve food and drinks late enough for you to get there from the ballpark (unless the game goes to 15 innings) on foot and have a leisurely meal.

      2. Generally Monday is a bit better than Thurs-Saturday for eating after a game (more people seem eager to get home earlier in the week), though I still always find Eastern Standard and ICOB slammed. I've always had good luck being seated right away at Citizens. They serve a full menu until 1.

Of course, you can make a reservation at ICOB and Eastern Standard, and some of the other places being suggested. No harm in making an 11:00 reservation, which should give you priority over the rest if there's a herd after the game.

        2. Sweet Cheeks is in that area - not sure of the hours

Sweet Cheeks closes at 10 Sunday–Wednesday, 11 Thursday–Saturday. It won't do for an after-game meal on a Monday night.

          2. Wow...It looks like we have many options.
We have visited Eastern Standard and ICOB before and enjoyed them both Have also been to the Yard House a few times.
Maybe we will try Citizens this time.
            Thanks Again!
