Help with Mother in Law B-Day Dinner Please! (price no object)

I am desperate. My mother in law is coming in for a show and dinner on Sunday Aug? We need a private room for 14 for dinner. She is 80 some sibs are restaurant owners and pros. Money is no object. I voted for the wine room at Del Posto. Wife is looking at other places. I love Del Posto, is there any better alternative. Thanks. I know this is not chowhoundy but bear with me.

Picholine will be closed for the months of July and August, but otherwise it's a good suggestion.

OP: Given the size of your party I don't think you can improve upon Del Posto for a Sunday evening dinner but look into:

      Cafe Boulud

Your group would be too large for the smaller dining room at Per Se, and too small for the larger one.

thanks. btw I love Picholine's cheese cart, one of the highlights of Manhattan.

    2. Many steakhouses have private rooms that could work well

      1. A non restaurant option would be scott conant's "culinary loft". You work with them to set the menu and wine beforehand and then scott and several of his staff cook and serve. I went to two different events there and it was really amazing food and wine in a beautiful space- felt like someone's amazing apartment.

        1. Marea's private room is very nice. The food is very good and the service is excellent. Bear in mind that the room is down a long staircase without an elevator (as far as I recall).

          1. Toqueville has a private space on the second floor. Quiet, serene and their fabulous food. Had a dinner there for 25-it was perfect..
