For Hounds who USE "People I'm Reading"-- 4 of 5w's & 1H please?

4/5 W's:
what
when
where
why
1h:
how?

So, those of you who use "People I'm Reading" -- to what end?

NOTE-- this is NOT a request for any list of who you read; enough of those threads clogging up the boards right now already.

  1. Kris, I used to do it because I really would regularly go to that list and click on certain people to see what they were up to food-wise. I rarely use it anymore. Actually there are two CHs with whom I'm friendly offsite. They I will regularly/daily check up on. I knew a CH who would regularly count to see how many people were "reading" her. I thought that was more than a little odd :)

    1. I add to my "People I'm Reading" list those who amuse or enlighten me. I use the list by clicking "My Reading List." This alerts me to threads I would usually pass over, such as the thread "Celiacs, Sacraments, and High Holy Days?" http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/982461 I would have skipped it, but, knowing someone I like reading has participated I clicked on it. So glad I did because I started my day with a good chuckle.

How? Click on someone's icon or name, view their profile and "+Follow."

I will add that I am fairly ruthless when it comes to un-Following someone. If I find my reading list clogged with things that don't interest me I will find the common denominator and "-Follow." While I thoroughly enjoy reading many things, a posty-pants can ruin my reading list by posting on every thread on one board.

I know the My Reading List exists but I don't think I've ever looked at it.

                Oh Yay!
                I must've been suffering from fat-fingered-phone disease.

Same here, regarding adding posters I find amusing or interesting. That said, I haven't perused "My Reading List" so far...
