[Kyle of Lochalsh] Buth Beag

This is a little gem. It's a bit like those clam shacks dotted up the New England coast. But better. Because it's Scottish. Like me :)

Tucked away by the pier, practically in the shadow of the Skye Bridge, it's a seafood deli/icecream bar/coffee shop/purveyor of delicious seafood snacks. The Cullen Skink was just ridiculously good. Fishy velvet with hunks of gold potato that actually tasted of potato. Couldn't finish it. And my son had a poached and hot smoked salmon combo roll which had him declaring 'I am sated.' That's about as good as it gets.

If I hadn't filled up on soup, there were cups of prawns and crab rolls and scallops and mussels cooked to order.

Lady who runs it is lovely; you can just tell she genuinely cares about making yummy food.

There's a couple of benches outside otherwise perch in your car and fill up before you hit Skye.

It's the left turn for the Lochalsh hotel on the water, the deli's just before.
