SGV Changes: Man Chan Cuisine, Hot Kitchen, Bambu Desserts & Drinks

  • 9

Holding Chandavkl's place for him while he's in Europe, here's a WSGV update:

In Prospect Plaza, Ox House is gone, replaced by Man Chan Cuisine - which has a location in Rowland Heights. The space at Valley & New (on the SW corner) which last housed The Grids, has a new tenant: Hot Kitchen is in soft opening. Lastly, Bambu Desserts & Drinks, a chain that seems to be rapidly expanding, has opened on Valley in San Gabriel, 432 E. Valley to be precise.

      I didn't check it out aside from picking up a menu. Someone else will have to try out the Hainan Chicken and report back. Barry? How about you?

        Haven't been to this location, but I was not a big fan of the Hainan Chicken I had at the Rowland location. For reference: locally, I prefer Savoy, then #2 Green Zone, and #3 Dong Nguyen.

          savoy is still #1 right now. i've had dong nguyen's version as well as the version at the now defunct yazmin. neither was even a close second.

      2. oo man chan moves to san gabriel, will be interesting to try. One of the few smaller cantonese places expanding.

        I went to bambu the other day, some of the drinks are unique. But other than those specific combinations, i didn't see them having any big advantage, other than hype and marketing, over ordering similar drinks at vietnamese restaurants. Still they are crowded whenever I drive by, and a refreshing change from the mediocre boba shops we have all over.

          Just tried to go to yes man chan and they're open.. But doing construction until 2pm.. So I'll try next time.

        2. Thanks for the update. I'm not even bothering with Chinese food here in Poland. So Man Chan is back in San Gabriel for a third time (Noodle Island was one location--was Sweet Island the other?) I think that ties them with Green Village for recidivism.

            I hope they do well, I really liked the noodle island chain.

              - chinese diplomat stationed in warsaw who married a polish national;
              - polish diplomat stationed in beijing who married a chinese national;
