Sunday Dinner rec., near Canary Wharf

Hi, Looking for a dinner recommendation near Canary Wharf for Sunday evening; any cuisine is okay, and most price points (not super expensive, but above moderate is okay). Good mixed drinks a definite plus...thanks for any thoughts.

  1. How about Tom's Kitchen? or Boisdale if you like jazzy music

I always think Canary wharf is great for takeaway lunch and not so great for dinner.

    1. I'd have a look at The Gun pub. It's about a 10 minute walk from Canary Wharf station and has a lovely location on the Thames. Does a roast on Sunday as well as its normal menu.

I *think* Tom's Kitchen closes early on a Sunday (tried to head there recently and was disappointed). Otherwise, Boisdale is a solid choice.

Other than that, I'm afraid it's pretty much all chains. Of those (and the ones that stay open on Sunday night), Jamie's Italian is ok, as is Browns.

Canary Wharf is pretty quiet on weekends, and even more so on sunday, so most places are closed. You may be better served taking the DLR to Shadwell, then up on the overground to Shoreditch High Street, where there are more eating options.

I was at the Gun recently for a Sunday dinner, and I don't know if it was only the weekend I was there, but they only had their regular menu, no roast. The regular menu was pretty good, but quite pricey I felt.

Near canary wharf, I was recently recommended Sichuan Kitchen for good, authentic northern Chinese

Boisdale is also closed on Sunday evenings, unfortunately.

How about Byblos Harbour? Lebanese restaurant with a charcoal grill, open until 10:30pm on Sundays.

Or Turkish food at Hazev, also open until 10:30pm on Sundays:

Or Cantonese food on a boat! at Lotus (open until 10:30pm on Sundays):

(Guess who recently did a survey of Canary Wharf for the Worldcon restaurant guide...)

Thanks for all the suggestions! We are going to the Gun, as it seemed to hit the mark. I am at the wharf fairly often for business and agree that the restaurants actually on the wharf are uneven and that Sundays are a bit of a ghost town. However, we are landing early Sunday and will probably wander over to borough market for a light lunch, so I didn't want to go too far for dinner. Monday night we are headed to NoPI which I enjoyed when I went previously. I may try the Turkish or Lebanese recco later in the week. Will report back, and thanks again.
