Reasonably priced halloumi source in Baltimore?

  • 4

I love to grill halloumi in the summer and am having trouble finding it locally for less than $12/small block. It was on sale for $9.99 for a ~7 oz. block at the Mt. Washington Whole Foods today, but that still strikes me as awfully spendy. I used to get it in my last city for $6-7 for this amount. Any suggestions? Willing to drive a bit to stock up. Thanks.

  1. I haven't specifically looked for halloumi, but you should give Prima Foods a shot.

    1. I got some recently at Punjab Market on 33rd St. I think it was about $5 for 6 ounces (just going from memory, though). It was my first time having it, so I can't say how it compares to other brands. It was a bit too salty for my taste, but I think it would have been nice paired with something a bit sweet.

      1. I heard today that Trader Joe's has it. I don't know the price but I'm pretty sure it will be less than Whole Foods!

        1. Wegmann's has it also. Don't know the price
