Why you have to see it: The tiny bakery has arguably the best croissant in Paris, as well as every flavor of escargot you could imagine. If you're not in the mood for a bite to eat, you might change your mind after smelling the bakery's fresh aromas.

  1. Du Pain et des Idees is no secret. It is one of the most beautiful boulangerie in Paris; the interior meticulous preserved when Christophe Vasseur took over the place more than 10 years ago. It is decorated with beautiful old baking paraphernalia. The pistachio escargot with chocolate is really good if it is from a batch that is baked a deep brown. As for 'arguably best croissant' in Paris, there are so many. Convenient if one is north of the Pl. de la Republique or near the Canal St-Martin.

    1. "Every flavor of escargot . . . ." At first I wondered what were you talking about, as bakeries typically don't serve snails. But then I looked up some pictures, and understand.
