Handmade Corn tortillas not from Los Cincos Puntos

Looking for handmade corn tortillas to purchase 4 or 5 dozen at a time. La Azteca was my favorite but they no longer make, Los Cinco Puntos makes theirs to thick for my taste. Help! Want them for this weekends taco tri tip extravaganza!

  1. Seriously, La Azteca doesn't make them any more?

Not the corn, bug them, maybe they will bring the corn back! Flour is still as good as ever!

And the flour not in big burrito size either.

    2. Tacos Puntas Cabras used to sell theirs by the 6 - pack. Assume they still do, but not sure.

I think they still do. I think I saw packages behind the counter when I went recently. They recently posted a pic of little masa dough balls getting ready to be made into tortilla: http://instagram.com/p/pxPvA4gwEL/

However, it looks like the OP is looking in the East LA area, or perhaps that just where tortillerias are generally found?

And their Carnitas is phenomenal too.

        1. La Parilla in ELA makes them at the restaurant for the dine ins but you might try calling to see if you can order to go.
          They're really good!

          1. I love the blue corn tortillas from the Tortilla place in El Mercadito.

            1. You might give Maria's Tortillera http://www.yelp.com/biz/marias-tortil... for another west side option, if that convenient for you?

Those are fresh but not handmade. I want that great rustic look and feel. La Azteca was great! Los Cinco Puntos is to thick. I have one or two restaurant options but would rather get them from a tortilla place, easier and can get them when you want, not when they can spare them! Thank You all! Dommy, are the blue corn hand made or just fresh?

Just fresh. The ones at Zamora Brothers that you get at the counter are hand made.

              2. I purchased some prepared but uncooked corn tortillas from WalMart (don't gasp) yesterday. We had a barbeque and I served these tortillas to the family. Everyone raved about them. The brand is Tortillaland. Not sure if this is what you're looking for but they definitely taste like homemade and are a little thicker than the store bought but still thinner than those sold at Cinco Puntas. Another plus for us, they are the yellow corn variety which we find more tasty than the white.

I actually found some I like at Zamora Brothers on Pico, very good and they had everything else, salsa verde, guacamole etc/! I think it was $4 a dz. reasonable for hand made!
